General tips for maintaining hijab as a medical patient
- Try to communicate firmly but respectfully that maintaining hijab as far as possible is important to you
- Ask for female staff if possible
- Make sure to bring the right clothes depending on what the procedure is. In order to do this you need to know what parts of your body need to be accessed and in what way. Is there any equipment such as an MRI machine which has additional restrictions on clothes, metal, etc? Are there a hygiene requirments?
- Consider the position of your body during the visit. If you plan to be lieing on your back for an extended period having your hair in a bun might be uncomfortable.
